Doctoral Degree at the Universities

Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC)

The program of the International Helmholtz Research School for Diabetes through HDC is part of the Helmholtz Graduate School Environmental Health - HELENA. Doctoral researchers of the International Helmholtz Research School for Diabetes therefore benefit from further support and education opportunities offered by HELENA.

Doctoral researchers at Helmholtz Zentrum München have a three-year working contract and are fully integrated into international research projects. They will usually receive their doctoral degree from one of the Munich universities (LMU or TUM). Strong networking between Helmholtz Zentrum München and the two Munich universities is ensured through joint appointments as well as through joint centers for translational medicine and numerous interdisciplinary research projects.

After successfull completion of the research work for the doctoral degree at the Helmholtz Diabetes Center and the curriculum of the International Helmholtz Research School for Diabetes, doctoral researchers will receive

  • The Doctoral Degree from one of the Munich universities
  • The International Helmholtz Research School for Diabetes - Certificate

Alberta Diabetes Institute (ADI)

Doctoral researchers at the ADI enrolled in the HRD will pursue their doctoral studies in compliance with the conditions stipulated by the University of Alberta, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, and their affiliated department/faculty. In addition, doctoral researchers and supervisors will agree to complementary training described in Curriculum.
