Wageningen Student Visit

This year, the Wageningen University European Study Trip 2019 visited the Helmholtz Zentrum München during their 1-week tour to research institutions around Munich and Vienna.

15 Students from the Bachelor's and Master's program "Nutrition and Health" at the Wageningen University were introduced to Diabetes research at Helmholtz Zentrum München.

Dr. Anastasia Georgiadi, project leader at the Institute for Diabetes and Cancer, provided an overview on the ongoing research approaches at this institute, which is part of the Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC). Afterwards, students visited the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Stephan Herzig in the new HDC building. During the coffee break, current doctoral students of the HDC discussed their research projects and future plans with visiting students. The coordinator of the International Helmholtz Research School for Diabetes also presented options for students to join Diabetes research during their studies or for a doctoral study program at the Helmholtz Zentrum München.

In addition, Prof. Dr. Linseisen and a doctoral student from his research group, Anna Riedl, presented their research in Clinical Epidemiology.
